“Thorvaldsen’s Lion” – Exhibition at the Hans Erni Museum

October 14, 2021 – March 6, 2022

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Lucerne Lion Monument, an exhibition on the Lion Monument will be realized in the Hans Erni Museum. On the one hand, the exhibition will present the monument, its history and the process of its creation with items from Thorvaldsen’s Museum in Copenhagen and Swiss museums. On the other hand, the reception of the monument in terms of tourism and art is traced up to the 21st century with works by Anton Egloff, Hans Erni, Dieter Roth, Irma Stadelmann, Andreas Weber and Erwin Wurm, among others.

The exhibition catalogue features contributions by Margrethe Floryan, Thorvaldsens Museum Copenhagen, Heinz Stahlhut, Hans Erni Museum, and others. Texts in German and English, 92 pages, 84 color illustrations, CHF 12.–.
